My second book was the more classically proportioned version of the historic longstitch. The cover of this book is made with gray Cave paper with a strip of pink St. Armand along the spine for extra support. This binding is the most popular binding in my bag of teaching tricks. You can't beat the simple elegance of these proportions. Plus, the historic longstitch is a real showstopper when constructed with other materials. I have used all manner of paper, rubber, cloth, felt, leather and vellum. Each material offers its own charm. However, it is important to understand the materials that you are using so that your final product is not awkward when handled by your reader.
